Pneumatic dryers are also known as flash dryers. They are used to introduce the need air for the drying process. Chosen type of dried product, inlet and outlet moisture and etc. factors affect the air flow and pressure. Because of its large surface area where heat and mass transfer occurs, a pneumatic dryer provides high drying rates and capacity. One of the differences of this type of dryer is that contact time between hot air and particles is very short. This feature of the dryer causes the material temperature remains at low during the drying process.
Pneumatic dryers consist of seven main parts;
- Wet material heater
- Jet filter
- Exhaust fan
The substances like baking soda, flour, melamine, potato starch, sodium cyanide, ammonium sulphate, corn skin, vinyl chloride… etc. can be used as the feed materials of a pneumatic dryer.
